Walserherbst: Klingende Kirche: Austrina - Koklé-Ensemble aus Riga
They bear the name of an old Latvian goddess of light - and their sound is just as luminous: ‘Austriņa’, a children's and youth ensemble from Riga, is dedicated to playing the kokle, a Baltic box zither. They play both the traditional ethnographic and the modern concert kokle with 30 strings and semitone switches - performing Latvian folk songs as well as arrangements of classical music, works by contemporary composers and modern adaptations. The ensemble has been led by its founder Iveta Tauriņa at for over 40 years. In addition to instrumental pieces, the repertoire also includes polyphonic songs. A melodious greeting from the north: After numerous performances in Europe, is now performing in Austria for the first time - in the atmospheric Bergkirche Damüls.

Description
Walserherbst celebrates this diversity in order to counteract a grey monotony. We do this with the colours of music, language and design - embedded in a unique cultural and natural landscape that both inspires and grounds us.
