Stage 2 of this challenging, scenic three-day hike in the Lechquellengebirge, which connects Spullersee and Formarinsee via two Alpine Club huts and requires alpine experience, sure-footedness, and good physical condition, particularly during the crossing of the Gehrengrat.

Tour description

The second day is the alpine highlight of the tour. From theRavensburger Hut, the trail climbs steadily towardthe Gehrengrat. The traverse follows narrow, sometimes steep paths and requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. Once at the top, sweeping panoramic views of the Lechquellengebirge open up. The subsequent descent leads through high alpine terrain down toFormarinsee. Directly on the lake lies theFreiburger Hütte (1,918 m), which offers overnight accommodations and brings the day to a close against an impressive mountain backdrop.

Equipment

Sturdy footwear, warm clothing, rain and sun protection, a snack, a full water bottle, and hiking poles are recommended. Additionally, bring gear for an overnight stay in a mountain hut. A cell phone for emergencies.
